Heroes:

In this clip, the students have written letters to Miep Gies, the woman who hid Anne Franks's family during the Holocaust. Watch the clip and then proceed to the activities below.
Activity 1:
Miep Gies told the students that they were heroes every day. In your journal, explain what Miep meant by this.
Then tell what makes you a hero every day.
Activity 2:
Miep lived in Europe during the Holocaust. Based on what was mentioned in the book and also in the film, explain in your journal what the Holocaust was. Next, look up information about the Holocaust from the The Holocaustand complete the steps below with your assigned group.
